“The
Tri-State Tour”
New
A-B-C-D Tournament Format Information
The
A-B-C-D tournaments will be set up in the following way:
1. The
chart will be split in the middle.
2. The top half of the chart will consist of the
higher level players (A-B).
3. The
bottom half of the chart will consist of the lower level players (C-D).
4. Byes
will be awarded based on the amount of players per half of the chart. So there
may be more byes on the top or bottom half of the chart based on how many
players are on that side of the chart.
5. If
there are more players of one level grouping then half of the chart amount then
the other level players will be added to the smaller group. What this means is
that, (example) if 30 players show up for the event that would put the event on
a 32 player chart. But if the field is split in numbers as follows: 20 C &
D class players and 10 A & B class players then some of the higher ranked
players of the C & D players would go to the other field of players until
the bottom half of the chart is full. In the 20/10 scenario that would mean
that 4 players would be added to the A-B draw. Those players moving to the A-B
side would be randomly drawn from the higher ranked players of the lower class.
Any players that are on the watch list would automatically be moved and the remaining
spots would be randomly drawn. The players moving to the higher level area
would also be awarded any byes on that area of the chart and the remaining
players would play each other in the first round. So in the 20/10 scenario that
would mean 4 players go up and 2 get byes and 2 match up against each other.
This is all done by random draw. One must realize that this example also works
in the opposite fashion is more players are in the higher grouping then the
lower players of that group would go down.
6. Where
players who lose a match early in the event move to the one loss side of the
chart will be adjusted, so players continue to play within their class on the
one loss side.
7. Higher
and Lower level players will not be mixed on the one loss side of the chart until
the meeting for the fourth place spot. This will guarantee that one lower level
and one higher player will not meet until the fourth place match with the
exception of the players randomly picked to play on the other side of the
chart.
8. This
will also guarantee that on the no loss side of the chart the 2 class levels
will not meet until the hot seat match with the exception of the players
randomly picked to play on the other side of the chart.
9. Double
points earned for A-B-C-D will now only be in effect for D+ & D players.
